WHY WE WORSHIP THE WAY WE DO

“But when He saw the multitudes, He was moved with compassion on them”

WHY DO WE STAND TO SING?

Then Jehoshaphat knelt down, bowing with his face to
the ground. All Judah and Jerusalem did the same,
worshiping GOD. The Levites (both Kohathites and
Korahites) stood to their feet to praise GOD, the God of
Israel; they praised at the top of their lungs!”
(Chron. 20:19)MSG

WHY DO WE CLAP OUR HANDS?

Applause, everyone. Bravo, bravissimo!
Shout God-songs at the top of your lungs!
(Psalm 47:1) MSG

WHY DO WE LIFT OUR HANDS?

I bless you every time I take a breath;
My arms wave like banners of praise to you.
(Psalms 63:4) MSG
Lift your praising hands to the Holy Place,
and bless GOD. (Psalms 134:2) MSG
Since prayer is at the bottom of all this, what I want
mostly is for men to pray not shaking angry fists at
enemies but raising holy hands to God.
(1 Tim. 2:8) MSG

WHY DO WE SING CHORUSES AS WELL AS HYMNS?

Let the word of Christ dwell in you rich; in all wisdom;
teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and
hymns, and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your
hearts in the Lord” (Col. 3:16).

WHY DO WE HAVE SPEAKING WITH TONGUES AND INTERPRETATION OF THOSE TONGUES?

Wherefore, Brethren, covet to prophesy, and forbid not to speak with tongues” (1Cor. 14:39) MSG
“But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal… To another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues”
(1Cor. 12:7, 10) MSG

WHY DO WE SPEAK PRAISE UNTO GOD?

O my soul, bless GOD. From head to toe, I’ll bless his
holy name! (Psalm 103:1)
Then I heard the sound of massed choirs, the sound of a
mighty cataract, the sound of strong thunder: Hallelujah!
The Master reigns,
our God, the Sovereign-Strong!
Let us celebrate, let us rejoice,
let us give him the glory! (Rev. 19 1, 6)

PART OF THE WORSHIP SERVICE?
“Praise Him with the sound of the trumpet; praise Him
with the psaltery and harp. Praise him with the timbrel
and dance. Praise Him with the stringed instruments and
organs. Praise Him upon the loud cymbals: Praise Him
upon the high sounding cymbals”
(Psalms 150:3-5)
And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many
waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and I heard
the voice of harpers harping with their harps:” (Rev.14:2)

WHY DO WE SING IN TONGUES AND IN ENGLISH?

If I pray in tongues, my spirit prays but my mind lies fallow, and all that intelligence is wasted. So what’s the solution? The answer is simple enough. Do both. I should be spiritually free and expressive as I pray, but I should also be thoughtful and mindful as I pray. I should sing with my spirit, and sing with my mind. If you give a blessing using your private prayer language, which no one else understands, how can some outsider who has just shown up and has no idea what’s going on know when to say “Amen”? Your blessing might be beautiful, but you have very effectively cut that person out of it.
(1 Cor. 14: 14-17) MSG

WHY DOES THE WHOLE CHURCH PRAY AT ONCE FOR SPECIFIC NEEDS?

Hearing the report, they lifted their voices in a
wonderful harmony in prayer: “Strong God, you
heaven and earth and sea and everything in them.
(Acts 4:24)

WHY D0 WE HAVE THIS TYPE OF WORSHIP?

“But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true
worshippers shall worship the Father in Spirit and in
truth for the Father seekth such to worship Him. God is a
Spirit: and they that worship Him must worship Him in
Spirit and in Truth” (John 4:23-24) MSG

WHAT IS PROPHECY?

The lion has roared-who isn’t frightened? GOD has spoken-what prophet can keep quiet? (Amos 3:8) But when you proclaim his truth in everyday speech, you’re letting others in on the truth so that they can grow and be strong and experience His presence with you.
(1Cor. 14:3) MSG

WHY DO WE PROPHESY?

Go after a life of love as if your life depended on it because it does. Give yourselves to the gifts God gives you. Most of all, try to proclaim his truth. If you praise him in the private language of tongues, God understands you but no one else does, for you are sharing intimacies just between you and him.
